Join this female only ride for a relaxed adventure along one of Moray’s most scenic coastal routes. Starting in Hopeman, we’ll follow the old railway line towards Burghead before stopping at the impressive Burghead Pictish Fort, where you’ll discover the fascinating history of one of Scotland’s most important ancient settlements.

From there we’ll head into the forest, following the wide trail of Burma Road before weaving along double track towards Roseisle.

Along the way we’ll uncover stories hidden within the landscape—from ancient Pictish history and wartime defences to the spectacular coastline that was recently transformed into the world of The Odyssey for one of Hollywood’s biggest productions. This is a sociable, no-pressure ride designed to enjoy the journey, take in the scenery and meet like-minded riders. After a rest in Roseisle we will return to Hopeman retracing our steps with a couple of shortcuts

What to expect

  • Approximately 25 km of riding
  • Around 3.5–4 hours including plenty of stops
  • Local history and stories throughout the ride
  • Incredible coastal views, woodland trails and beaches
  • A relaxed, friendly atmosphere and a giggle
  • Whatever the weather throws at us

Terrain

A mixture of:

  • Old railway path (hard-packed)
  • Forest fire roads
  • Double track
  • some sandy bits

Suitable for

Perfect for beginners through to intermediate riders. You don’t need technical mountain biking experience, but a reasonable level of fitness is recommended as we’ll be riding for the full morning with regular breaks.
